Re-urbanization refers to the movement of people back into an area that has been previously abandoned. Reurbanisation is usually a government’s initiative to counter the problem of inner-city decline. Inner-city decline usually occurs when problems such as pollution, overpopulation, inadequate housing, etc. arise.
Gentrification is a general term for the arrival of wealthier people in an existing urban district, a related increase in rents and property values, and changes in the district’s character and culture. The term is often used negatively, suggesting the displacement of poor communities by rich outsiders.
